I heard an amazing sermon a couple of weeks ago at @c3.nyc about the importance of spending time DAILY in the word. The pastor pointed out that while it’s great when we DO have revelations about meanings within the passages we read, that is actually NOT the point of reading our Bible daily. The point is actually that spending time in God’s word, whether we fully comprehend it or not, cleanses our hearts. The act of opening up our Bible’s, humbling ourselves before God and just saying “Lord, I come to you to spend time with you, even if I don’t fully ‘feel something’ as I read this” is what changes our spirits. It allows th Holy Spirit to work through us because the more time with spend reading God’s word, the more we will RECOGNIZE His voice when He calls on us. My mind: Blown! Spend time with Him DAILY. Not because you have to walk away with some incredible realization, not because you will “feel something” every time you read it, but because you were made to commune with Him daily, and HIS WORD is the best place to start. Psalm 119:9–16 (NIV) ב Beth 9 How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. 10 I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. 11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. 12 Praise be to you, Lord; teach me your decrees. 13 With my lips I recount all the laws that come from your mouth. 14 I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches. 15 I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. 16 I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word.
