"Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like." -James 1:22-24 Sounds easy enough, right? Then why have I looked back on so many days—days when I’ve started with prayer and Bible reading—and then have completely failed to live out what I read just hours before? My sweet mother-in-law and I were talking over Christmas, and she brought up such a simple, but profound point: There are so many Bible verses that when we read, seem easy to remember and live by. But then we continually forget in the moment! Perhaps God—knowing we need more of Him all the time— wants us to spend MORE time with the most simple of verses, to truly imprint these things on our heart. So today, I want to encourage all of you to pick one verse. Read it. Then read it again. Then read it OUT loud, and even pray that verse over yourself.
THEN choose a time this afternoon when you’ll read it again. And pray it over yourself again. Then END your day by reading the verse one last time, praying about it as well. Sounds like a lot? I bet it won’t feel that way when you actually do it! 😉 Xx #haplous #medidateonthewordofgod #pray #memorizescripture
