“Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.” Hebrews 12:14 We read this verse today as part of our Haplous Bible study. It got me thinking—does this mean unless we are holy we will not go to Heaven? But aren’t we saved by faith alone? Ephesians 2:8 tells us, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God." It could mean that when we are really saved, we become holy as a result, bearing the fruit that can only be unlocked through our FAITH in Jesus. But I think there is another meaning to this... I think what God is trying to say is—people who DON'T know Him yet, CAN’T come to know Him and love Him unless His followers become an example of who HE is. He is the Prince of Peace, the Holy of Holies. We won’t bring people to Jesus by beating them over the head with everything they are doing wrong. No—we will bring people to the feet of Jesus by acting out of love, despite all else. Be a force of PEACE where you are. That will truly soften people’s hearts. Lean into the Holy Spirit and ask for His guidance and help. God has called you and chosen you for a special purpose. You have His light inside you and therefore can draw others nearer to Him. Xx
